DAY ONE – Arrival

We depart from your home and travel to Somerset arriving late afternoon; you will have time to relax before dinner this evening.

 

DAY TWO – Taunton and Hestercombe Gardens

This morning after breakfast we begin the day in the county town of Taunton the heart of Somerset, steeped in history and surrounded by beautiful countryside; free to explore at your own pace and have the chance to enjoy lunch.

 

The journey continues to the stunning Hestercombe Gardens, where over 50 acres of landscaped gardens span three centuries of design. Marvel at the tranquil lakes, cascading waterfalls, and colourful flower displays as you explore this horticultural treasure. We have included a guided tour to enhance your experience here.

 

DAY THREE – Wells

Today the day is yours to enjoy Wells. Wander its cobbled streets, admire the magnificent Wells Cathedral, and soak up the serene atmosphere that makes this city such a special place to visit.

 

Wells Cathedral was built between 1175 and 1490 Wells Cathedral has been described as “the most poetic of the English Cathedrals”. Or perhaps visit The Bishop’s Palace and Gardens, home to the Bishops of Bath and Wells for over 800 years and this stunning medieval palace, which is now open to the public, with free guided walks, and the Bishop’s Table café for you to enjoy refreshments.

 

Don’t forget to walk down Vicar’s Close, which adjoins the Cathedral, it is believed to be the only complete medieval street left in England.

 

DAY FOUR – Bath and Western-Super-Mare 

Today we journey to the beautiful Georgian city of Bath, step back into a city famed for its honey-coloured stone and Georgian elegance. Visit iconic landmarks such as the Royal Crescent and Pulteney Bridge, and perhaps indulge in the shops, cafes, or the soothing Roman Baths themselves.

 

Next, experience the nostalgic charm of Weston-Super-Mare, a traditional seaside resort offering sweeping sandy beaches and a lively promenade. We’ll then make our way back to our hotel.

 

DAY FIVE - Departure

After breakfast this morning we leave our hotel and make our journey home with comfort stops en route.

The Swan Hotel is centrally located in the Somerset city of Wells directly opposite the cathedral. A historic hotel with some parts dating back to 1422. Over the years the hotel has been sympathetically refurbished and extended, offering modern amenities in a beautiful setting. All bedrooms are furnished in an elegant, traditional style and are equipped with a TV, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. Owing to the historic nature of the building, there is no lift. There is an outside terrace that offers unrestricted panoramic views over Cathedral Green and Wells Cathedral. The hotel does not have a lift.
