HOLIDAY HIGHLIGHTS

Babbacombe   |   Sidmouth   |   Okenhampton

DAY ONE – Arrival

We depart from your home and travel south to The English Riviera with comfort stops en route. The Babbacombe Hotel enjoys stunning views across Lyme Bay.

DAY TWO – Sidmouth

Today we travel to Sidmouth along the coast.  Explore at your leisure, maybe stop first for refreshments in one of the many cafes, before taking stroll along the promenade, and into Connaught gardens. You might then like to visit the Sidmouth Museum, or the historic Regency Kennaway House, often displaying exhibitions and displays. After your day here, we’ll head back to our hotel with time to relax before dinner this evening.

DAY THREE – Babbacombe

A day at leisure in Babbacombe, why not take a gentle stroll the short distance to the Babbacombe Model Village; feel like a giant as you step through the small entrance and the vast miniature world opens up before you, then explore the award winning gardens, showcasing beautiful streams and waterfalls.

Or maybe take the cliff railway to Oddicombe Beach. Built in 1926, the Babbacombe Cliff Railway has shuttled hundreds of thousands of holiday makers to and from Oddicombe Beach in over 90 years of service. Then relax in the hotel and enjoy the views over the bay.

DAY FOUR – Okenhampton

After a leisurely morning, we’ll make our way out to the Dartmoor National Park, and Okehampton, often referred to as the “Gateway to the Moor”. The town is home to the picturesque Okehampton Castle, which dates to the Domesday Book and sits in an elevated position.

Within the town centre, why not visit the Museum of Dartmoor Life: situated in the heart of the town, an excellent place to learn about the area’s rich heritage. The museum features exhibits on the history of the region, including agriculture, mining, and the fascinating stories of its residents over the centuries. Near the museum is the Victorian Pantry Tearooms, where you can take a break, before continuing to explore.

Not far from here is the Museum of Policing in Devon & Cornwall, the museum possesses a comprehensive collection of artefacts and archives that relate to Devon and Cornwall Police and its antecedent forces.

You can then visit the Victorian Arcade for a peek back into history, it’s well worth exploring! Then make our way to Red Lion Yard, an attractive outdoor area surrounded by a wide range of shops, and places to eat. You also visit the beautiful Simmons Park, which has the river running through it and many trails to explore.

We’ll later return to our hotel, where there is time to relax before dinner this evening.
