Llangollen | Penrhyn Castle | Beaumaris | Llandudno | Open-top Bus Tour | Tweedmill
We depart from your home and travel first to Llangollen, situated on the River Dee, overlooked by its magnificent Castle, some time here before we continuing to
the Victorian resort of Llandudno, arriving during the afternoon.
This morning, we make a visit to Penrhyn Castle and discover some of the wonderful and elaborately decorated rooms; opening the doors and stepping inside where the Pennant family and their famous guests dined and played in opulent fashion.
You cant help but be taken aback by the vast luxurious rooms, Gothic carved stairways and art on display. Hear stories of sugar and slate fortunes and delve below stairs in the Victorian kitchens.
As we enter the library, youll agree that there must be no better to relax and unwind with a good book and a warming fire? Here, the family could play a game of billiards and enjoy a drink.
Pink colours are repeated throughout the Drawing Room including the carpet and silk upholstered furniture. Its hard to imagine this room was once used as an office, during the Second World War, by the car manufacturing company Daimler.
In the Ebony room Lady Penrhyn would write her letters and organise domestic arrangements with her staff, and in the Lower India Room a mixture of exotic furniture, including mahogany, imported from Sri Lanka and beautiful wallpaper from the 17th century is 17th century wouldve made for a dazzling display on the walls.
Theres more to the Castle, but well let you discover the rest on this lovely excursion day.
Please note there is a ramp at the main castle entrance, and some cobbled areas towards the back of the castle. If preferred, please ask a member of staff who can help you avoid those areas. Mobility scooters, manual wheelchairs, and a golf buggy service can be requested for your visit. Please advise at time of booking. A circular route around the grounds is accessible and shows much of the sights.
Well then visit Beaumaris, where you can explore this delightful town, before we make our way back to Llandudno.
Today is free to explore some of the many attractions of this popular North Wales resort. We include a ticket for the open-top bus to enable you to explore the town and surrounding areas at your leisure.
