As the new year commences, this time is about reflection, peace and wonder in Devon. Step into centuries-old Powderham Castle where family legends, opulent interiors and deer-filled parkland connect you to days gone by.

DAY ONE – Arrival

We depart from your home and travel to Torquay, arriving late afternoon.

 

DAY TWO – Powderham Castle and Exeter

This morning we visit Powderham Castle which promises an unforgettable experience.

 

Nestled on the picturesque Exe Estuary, Powderham, the historic home of the Earl of Devon, the stunning grounds and historic State Rooms provide a fascinating visit as you discover the rich history of the estate. Whether you’re exploring the Castle, or wandering through the beautiful gardens, we bring the history of Powderham to life with captivating stories and historical insights.

 

We’ll them visit Exeter, where you have tome time at leisure,  perhaps visit Exeter Cathedral, Devon’s greatest historic building. We’ll later return to our hotel.

 

DAY THREE – Plymouth

Today we make our way to Plymouth, where you have time at leisure to explore. Wander the cobbled streets, independent shops, and galleries, or pop by Elizabethan House if you like history. Don’t forget to see the Mayflower Steps, an iconic stop where the Pilgrims left for America – and a great photo spot by the water. You can then, walk along the promenade to Plymouth Hoe, and see the Smeaton’s Tower lighthouse (climb it if you’re feeling energetic), and look out for the Drake’s Statue while enjoying the views over Plymouth Sound. We’ll then return to our hotel with time to relax before dinner this evening.

 

DAY FOUR – Torquay

After a leisurely morning, this afternoon we will make the short journey to Torquay, where you have time at leisure to explore, before returning to our hotel with time to relax before dinner this evening.

 

DAY FIVE – Departure

After breakfast this morning we depart our hotel, and make our journey home, with comfort stops en route.
