A wonderful week in the stunning beauty of Waterford, with spectacular views and as Irelands oldest tourist destination, no trip would be complete without a tour of one of the many scenic drives. A fantastic week of fun and entertainment, the Irish way!
Waterford | Waterford Crystal Factory | Waterford Treasures | The Waterford & Suir Valley Railway | Mount Congreve Gardens | Dunbrody Emigrant Ship | Johnstown Castle
We depart from your home and travel to Holyhead and our early ferry. Arriving in Dublin we then make our way to our hotel in Waterford. Time to relax before our dinner and entertainment this evening.
This morning, we make our way to the Waterford Crystal Factory, where we enjoy a 90-minute guided factory tour, taking in all aspects of the production of Waterford Crystal, including blowing, mould making, quality inspection, finishing, crystal cutting, sculpting and engraving.
This afternoon, we enjoy a 45-minute guided tour of Waterford Treasures, comprising three museums within a few steps of each other in the Viking Triangle. We spend the rest of our day exploring this city at leisure.
This morning we make our way to the heritage narrow gauge railway of Waterford & Suir Valley in Biberry, where we board our train for our journey along the picturesque banks of the River Suir to the famous Mount Congreve Gardens where we enjoy a guided garden tour, home to one of the largest collections of plants in Ireland.
After a day of wonderful scenery, we return to our hotel with time to relax before dinner and entertainment this evening.
After breakfast this morning we travel north to New Ross and the Dunbrody Famine Ship experience, one of the premier Irish heritage places to visit in Wexford.
The Dunbrody is an authentic reproduction of an 1840s sailing ship. Together with its world class exhibition, it is an educational living museum of Irish History that will tell you everything you need to know about life for emigrants during the Irish famine.
Costumed performers, skilful guided tours and themed exhibitions will give you a unique insight into the bravery and fortitude of the many Irish people who faced a desperate situation.
We will then visit Johnstown Castle for a guided tour, where we discover the 19th century castle and its incredibly long servants tunnel.
We return to Waterford where you have time to relax before dinner this evening.
After breakfast this morning we leave our hotel and make our journey home, firstly to Dublin and then our ferry to Holyhead and home.
