DAY ONE – Arrival

We depart from your home and travel to Bury St Edmunds, arriving late afternoon. You will have time to relax before dinner this evening.

 

DAY TWO – Newmarket on Race Day and National Stud

This morning we head for Newmarket, home of horse racing. Our guide will take us first to The Gallops. Listen to the beat of the hoofs as you watch the horses on their morning exercise on over 2500 acres of Jockey Club land. You’ll see the variety in gallops – hills, surface, and length and learn lots of interesting facts from your knowledgeable guide.

From here we return to the coach for our Racing Royalty Tour.  Our guide will point out all the local studs and tell you more about their royal connections.

Next stop is the National Stud - a fascinating and informative visit even for those not interested horse racing.  We learn how a horse progresses from training field to racetrack. We also get up close and personal with the horses with a chance see top stallions, mares and foals taking their first steps to becoming a racehorse.

From here we are off to Newmarket Racecourse for Race Day where we have time to enjoy the exciting atmosphere as you cheer your favourite towards the winning post. During our visit we have included Afternoon Tea at the Races. Later, we return to the hotel - hopefully to celebrate a successful day!

 

DAY THREE – Cambridge and Departure

After breakfast, our destination today is the university city of Cambridge. Leaving the hotel, we drive to Cambridge for a short visit before heading home.

All bedrooms are ensuite with television telephone, radio, hairdryer, and tea & coffee making facilities.  There is no lift but there are ground-floor rooms and two disabled ground floor rooms. There are a few stairs to the first floor.
