Our Dutch tour takes us to three fantastic cities, including the stunning s-Hertogenbosch, glorious Gouda complete with syrup waffle. and delightful Dordrecht, where we enjoy time to explore. Not forgetting of course Amsterdam, where you will enjoy a canal cruise, to appreciate the city.
Papendrecht | Gouda | Dordrecht | s-Hertogenbosch | Amsterdam | Amsterdam Canal Cruise | Van den Berg Tearoom | Goudse Waag Cheese and Crafts Museum
We depart from your home early and travel south to Hull for your overnight crossing to Rotterdam and continue to your hotel in Papendrecht with time to relax before dinner this evening.
Today we travel to Gouda for a taste of the city at the Van den Berg Tearoom, where we enjoy tea/coffee and an authentic Gouda syrup waffle. Van den Berg is a traditional bakery that has been baking waffles for over 100 years to a very secret recipe! (Please note, due to the size of the bakery, the group may need to be split into two.) We then have some free time in Gouda before making our way to Dordrecht, the Venice of Holland. Here, we can explore at leisure, taking in the many sights of one of Hollands oldest cities, with its cobbled streets and pretty, traditional brick houses intertwined with waterways and harbours. Dont miss the Grote Kerk (Great Church), the Dordrecht Museum or the Groothoofd Quay where the rivers meet.
Today we visit s-Hertogenbosch, also known as Den Bosch. Nestled in the southern Netherlands, 's-Hertogenbosch is a city with a rich history and culture. Its name means 'the forest of the duke', referring to its founder Henry I of Brabant in the 12th century.
We enjoy free time to explore this city, packed with historic buildings and fascinating museums. The magnificent St Johns Cathedral is a must see, with its beautiful Gothic architecture and stunning interiors, and theres plenty to discover in the selection of museums, including the Het Noordbrabants Museum, which, among its art displays, features early works by Van Gogh. We could also visit the Jheronimus Bosch Art Center, which houses an exhibition on the life and work of artist Jheronimus Bosch, who was born in s-Hertogenbosch, or the Design Museum Den Bosch of modern art, ceramic art and jewellery. We may prefer to take it easy and get comfy with a drink and bite to eat in one of the welcoming cafés.
On our return to our hotel, the evening is yours at leisure.
After breakfast we head for Amsterdam where we enjoy the 75-minute Amsterdam River Cruise, as well as free time to explore the city before returning to our hotel for our final evening.
Enjoy breakfast before we make our way back to Rotterdam for our overnight ferry crossing and then we continue our journey home.
