A fascinating short break, packed with wonderful things to enjoy and discover with a visit to one of Britains finest Elizabethan Houses, and Longleats Safari Park with fabulous 900-acre estate and explore Englands smallest city, as we spend a weekend in Wells. This wonderful place is full of history and medieval charm.
Wells | Longleat House and Safari
We depart from your home and travel to Somerset arriving late afternoon; you will have time to relax before dinner this evening.
This morning we head for Longleat House and Safari Park. First on the itinerary this morning is the coach driving us through the Safari Park to discover some of the stars of TVs Animal Park in the world-famous Safari Park. Time to meet from furry, scaly and fethery friends to snoozing Southern koalas to snapping Cuban crocodiles, see how many animals you can spot on the Safari!! We then have time to wander around the House, Britains most astonishing ~Stately Homes. It was in 1949, Longleat House became one of the first privately owned stately homes to open to the public commercially. Today it is the home of the 8th Marquess and Marchioness of Bath. This is a house rich in history with one of the finest private collections in Britain, a real treat for you. A fascinating day.
Today the day is yours to enjoy Wells. You might like to visit the Cathedral for the remembrance service today. Wells Cathedral was built between 1175 and 1490 Wells Cathedral has been described as the most poetic of the English Cathedrals. Or perhaps The Bishops Palace and Gardens, home to the Bishops of Bath and Wells for over 800 years and this stunning medieval palace, which is now open to the public, with free guided walks, and the Bishops Table café for you to enjoy refreshments. Dont forget to walk down Vicars Close, which adjoins the Cathedral, it is believed to be the only complete medieval street left in England.
After breakfast this morning we leave our hotel and make our journey home with comfort stops en route.

Note - Several rooms and all ground floor rooms are located in the Coach House rear of the main building and No ground floor rooms or lift in the main building. All single rooms are twin/double for sole occupancy.
