DAY ONE – Arrival, Skipton and Settle / Carlisle Railway

We depart from your local pick upon point and travel to Yorkshire and the market town of Skipton. Often called the gateway to The Dales, Skipton offers many shops, cobbled streets and alleyways to explore, plus one of the most complete and well-preserved medieval castles in England.

We then join our diesel train for our breathtaking journey on England’s most scenic railway line - the Settle to Carlisle. Completed in 1876, this is one of the last great railways to be built in the country. We travel through stunning countryside to Carlisle where we stay overnight at the Crown & Mitre Hotel.

 

DAY TWO – Departure and Lake District

After Breakfast our return journey home this morning gets underway with more beautiful scenery as we travel towards the wonderful Lake District. We follow the shore of Ullswater and head over the Kirkstone Pass, before descending to Lake Windermere. We take a short break here before continuing our journey home.
