(19th) DAY ONE – Arrival

We depart from your home and travel to Alnwick, arriving at our hotel late afternoon, you will then have time to relax before dinner this evening.

(20th) DAY TWO – Alnwick and Alnwick Gardens

Today we enjoy time in our base of Alnwick. We include a visit to the delightful Alnwick Gardens. As an optional extra, you could also visit Alnwick Castle - described by the Victorians as the ‘Windsor of the North’.

(21st) DAY THREE – Rothbury and Cragside House

We journey through beautiful countryside to the capital of Coquetdale, Rothbury, this was once a popular health resort where people came to take the air and enjoy its riverside setting of wide open spaces and delightful scenery.

From here we head for the magnificent Cragside House. This former home of Lord and Lady Armstrong is now in the care of the National Trust. Cragside was the first house to be lit by electricity – a true wonder of the Victorian age. The house is fascinating, and the gardens are spectacular with towering conifers, rocky crags, and waterfalls to explore.

(22nd) DAY FOUR – Holy Island and Bamburgh

Today’s excursion takes us across the causeway to Holy Island and the mysterious Lindisfarne Castle – visible in the distance from Bamburgh. Later we visit Bamburgh with some free time here before returning to our hotel.
