At its core stands the Lovell Telescope, a Grade I listed engineering marvel. With its 250 ft dish, it's the UK's largest steerable Radio Telescope and has been in constant use by astrophysicists across the globe since 1957.

 

The newest addition to the site is the First Light Pavilion, where hands-on exhibits reveal the Lovell's secrets, from tracking Sputnik to Apollo moon missions.

 

For those seeking celestial adventure, the Space Dome offers immersive planetarium experiences, where you can witness the birth of stars and explore the solar system through captivating films for all ages.

 

To refuel during your visit, two cafes offer a delicious selection of refreshments.

We depart from your selected pick-up point, relax in the comfort of your coach seat and enjoy scenic views along the way. Don’t forget to grab your essentials—comfortable shoes, a jacket, and your curiosity!  

 

We arrive at 10.30am, upon arrival you’ll receive a friendly welcome from the team, and a map will be provided to help you plan your visit around the grounds.

 

Marvel at the Lovell Telescope, the third-largest steerable radio telescope in the world! Take a stroll around it as you discover how this incredible instrument listens to the stars and helps scientists unlock the mysteries of the universe.

 

Dive even deeper into the world of astronomy at the Space Pavilion. Explore fascinating exhibits on planets, stars, and galaxies. Be sure to try out some of the interactive displays!

 

Take a break and enjoy a meal at the Planet Café. Alternatively, feel free to relax in the picnic area if you’ve brought your own.

 

Interact with the famous Whispering Dishes, a quirky yet educational experience that demonstrates how sound travels. Then, enjoy a gentle walk through the stunning Jodrell Bank Arboretum, home to beautiful trees and plants from around the globe.

 

Before heading home, visit the Gift Shop for unique, astronomy-themed souvenirs. Pick up a memento or two to remember your cosmic adventure or grab a gift for friends and family.

 

We’ll leave at approx. 4pm. So settle back into your seat as we head home. Share stories with your fellow passengers, look back through your photos, and maybe even spot a new constellation on the way!
