The Isle of Wight is often described as The Garden Isle, the wonderful scenery and attractive resorts make it the perfect place for a relaxing holiday. Enjoying an unseasonable amount of warmth and sunshine, and with fifty per cent of its coastline honoured by the title 'Heritage Coast'. Queen Victoria fell in love with the Island and after her first visit to Osborne House pronounced: 'It is impossible to find a prettier spot.'
Shanklin | Cowes | Osborne House & Grounds | Isle of Wight Steam Railway | Ryde | Godshill
We depart from your home and travel south for our ferry crossing to the Isle of Wight, after disembarking we continue to our hotel, time to settle in before dinner.
This morning we travel the short distance to Osborne House, Queen Victorias palace by the sea. We visit state rooms as well as the beautiful gardens and Queen Victorias beach, where there is a bathing machine in which the Queen used to get undressed! Tying in with Queen Victoria and the 2017 Victoria and Abdul, a trail has been specially created, Victorias Island Trail, to celebrate the islands royal connections, with Osborne House being a key location on the trail. There are acres of grounds and gardens to relax in, horse and carriage rides to take and a delightful restaurant and café. Dont forget to wear comfortable shoes! We return back to Ryde with free time to explore at your own pace.
Today we head to Godshill, one of the most photographed and prettiest villages on the Island, there are plenty of cafes, pubs, tearooms, and beautiful sights to keep you entertained, maybe visit the model village during our stop as well. We then travel to Shanklin for a free time to explore the resort, before returning to our hotel.
This morning we travel to Havenstreet, where we enjoy the Isle of Wight Steam Railway. Experience a nostalgic 10 mile steam train journey and are transported back in time with the sights and smells of a bygone era that will charm, engage and captivate.
After our rail journey, we make our way to Cowes, where you have time to meander around the streets or stroll along the Parade and Esplanade; perhaps enjoy refreshments at one of the many cafes. Whatever you decide to do, Cowes is a delightful place to visit.
After breakfast we leave our hotel and make our way to our ferry crossing and home with comfort stops en route.
