We depart from your home and travel to Irvine, arriving late afternoon you will have time to relax before dinner this evening.
Irvine was made a Royal Burgh in 1372 by Robert II and is now a busy town with important historical and maritime connections. Its harbour became a major west coast seaport.Explore Ship to Shore on Irvines Harbourside where else could you marvel at a boat built in the bedroom of a Glasgow townhouse by two teenagers in the last century, a Viking Fourareen built by a Shetland crofter using driftwood or the curious Uffa Fox Parachuted Airborne Lifeboat complete with survival kit?
Today we head firstly to Troon and enjoy its long beach and promenade before we visit Ayr and Alloway the home of Scotlands most famous poet. We visit the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum - a truly unique encounter with Scotlands favourite son. This flagship museum starts a journey that weaves through the village, taking you from historical buildings to landmarks known to Burns.In the afternoon we continue as we head along the cost and take in the views of the Firth to Arran and pass Culzean Castle.
This morning we take the ferry to the Isle of Arran, where we then make our way Brodick Castle and Gardens, dating back to the 13th century. In a stunning setting, with the sea and hills surrounding it, this castle was built on the site of a Viking fortress and its history dates back centuries.
Packed with treasures and with impressive gardens that overlook the Firth of Clyde, theres much to see before we then continue on a scenic tour of the island before heading back to our hotel.
After breakfast this morning we leave our hotel and make our journey home with comfort stops en route.
