Guided Tour Constable Country | Bury St Edmunds | Felixstowe | Woodbridge | Aldeburgh
We depart from your home and travel to Suffolk, arriving late afternoon you will have time to relax and refresh before dinner this evening.
After breakfast, we discover the idyllic villages of Constable Country on a guided tour. This includes East Bergholt, an unspoilt village with many fine old houses and cottages and the birthplace of the famous painter himself. The church at Dedham, with its 131ft tower, and the little hamlet of Flatford Mill were favoured subjects in his paintings with one of his works being named after the mill. From here we head towards Felixstowe for lunch (nothing like fish and chips at the seaside!) We then have free time to explore before returning to our hotel.
This morning we journey west to the historic town of Bury St. Edmunds, famous for its Abbey Gardens and the Angel Hotel, where Dickens had Mrs Pickwick stay. Today is market day so enjoy free time to browse the stalls, explore the town then sit back and have some lunch before we make our way back to our hotel.
We begin with a drive to Woodbridge - the gem in Suffolks crown. Woodbridge combines excellent shops with superb pubs and restaurants and numerous activities both indoors and out. On the edge of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Woodbridge is the perfect base from which to explore the Suffolk Coast and its many tourist attractions. Later we visit Aldeburgh, a traditional seaside town in Suffolk, with a rich cultural heritage and famous pebble beach. It was home to the composer Benjamin Britten. Time for lunch and a stroll.
After breakfast this morning we leave our hotel and make our journey home with comfort stops en route.
