Today we make our way the short distance to Abbotsford Subtropical Gardens, which has over 30 acres of gardens and home to over 6000 species from across the world.
Described as a Plantmans Garden, this world-renowned paradise is unique and nestled on the edge of the Dorset Jurassic Coast. There is a long and rich history connected to the Gardens, from a kitchen garden to the Subtropical paradise it is today, the unique and extensive plant collection from around the world is admired and marvelled by everyone who visits. There is also a Plant Centre, thats a must see; it has a range that reflects the beauty and diversity of the Gardens themselves. As the gardens are less than a mile from the sea, they are milder in the winter and cooler in summer. Over time the climate and various aspects of its location, all combined make for a micro-climate where many species of plants thrive.
Well then make our way back to Weymouth, where youll have time to relax this afternoon and perhaps explore Weymouth, before dinner this evening.
We have a morning at leisure today in Weymouth, before we head for Swanage, and the Swanage Railway, where you will be transported back in time, in reserved seating, during a memorable 6-mile journey (return) through the beautiful Purbeck countryside.
Today we enjoy a coastal drive to Sidmouth, this lovely seaside town nestles beneath majestic red cliffs and the green hills of the glorious Sid Valley, enjoy beautiful gardens, regency history, and friendly shops. We then return to Weymouth where you can relax before our dinner this evening.
This morning, we begin our journey home with refreshment stops en route.
