DAY ONE – Arrival

We depart from your home and travel to York arriving late afternoon you will have time to relax before dinner this evening.

 

DAY TWO – ‘York in a Nutshell’ and York Riverboat Trip

Today is ‘York in a nutshell’. After breakfast we are joined by our tour guide for a comprehensive morning sightseeing tour of York. The afternoon we enjoy a cruise on the river Ouse with York boat with free time afterwards in York.

 

DAY THREE – Whitby and The North Yorkshire Moors National Park

This morning we leave for a spectacular scenic tour to Whitby and the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. Our first stop is Pickering where we join the North Yorkshire Moors Railway for a ride across the moors as we make our way to the historic seaport of Whitby, with its ruined Abbey atop the cliff overlooking the busy harbour.

 

We have time for lunch here and to explore the town before returning across Blakey Ridge, offering some of the most spectacular views of the area. From Hutton-le-Hole we continue to Helmsley for a short break before returning to the hotel.

 

DAY FOUR – York and Castle Howard

We have the morning free for further exploration of York city centre. You can visit the Jorvik Centre, The National Railway Museum, walk the City Walls, the list is endless. No visit to York is complete without seeing the magnificent Minster, and the surrounding narrow streets and little alleyways, including the famous Shambles.

 

This afternoon we visit delightful Castle Howard, best known for its starring role in ‘Brideshead Revisited’. We have time to explore the house and the lovely grounds.

 

DAY FIVE – Departure

After breakfast we leave our hotel and make our journey home with comfort stops en route.
