HOLIDAY HIGHLIGHTS

Falmouth   |   Helston   |   Museum of Cornish Life  |   St Ives   |   Newquay   |   Padstow   |   St Agnes

DAY ONE – Arrival

We depart from your home and travel to Cornwall and our hotel in St Agnes. Time to relax before dinner this evening.

DAY TWO – Falmouth Helston and The Museum of Cornish Life

Today we will visit Falmouth, this port town is wonderfully vibrant and scenic. Take a wander down the Old High Street, through the heart of the town towards Discovery Quay and you’ll pass a splendid assortment of independent shops. These range from hand-made wares, books, eclectic homewares, vintage clothing, and nautical supplies. We’ll then visit Helston, and the Museum of Cornish Life, that has one of the greatest collections of social history. The Helston Museum is set in the town’s historic Market Buildings. You’ll find the history of the industries in Cornwall, children’s toys over the decades and centuries, displays of old Cornish stores, and some amazing historical models.

We’ll then return to the hotel.

DAY THREE – St Ives

Today we have a full day in St Ives, the dazzling jewel in Cornwall’s crown. A picturesque fishing harbour and seaside town. Wander through the maze of narrow cobbled streets, independent shops, and fishermen’s’ cottages in the heart of St Ives. Why not feel the soft sand between your toes on the blue flag rated Porthmeor beach, to take an inspiring walk along the coastal path. Enjoy your time in St Ives, before heading back to our hotel in St Agnes.

Please note there is a park and ride service for St Ives that comes at a small cost. (not included).

DAY FOUR – Newquay

No trip to Cornwall would be complete without a visit to Newquay. Newquay’s historic harbour is where Newquay got its name – formerly known as Towan Blystra – the town got a new harbour, or ‘quay’ and the name came with it!

Newquay harbour has a long history; from supporting the Cornish tin mining industry to the heyday of the commercial pilchard fishing era. Small scale commercial fishing still exists but this mostly provides the local restaurants and hotels.

We’ll later return to our hotel with plenty of time to relax this afternoon or explore St Agnes further.

DAY FIVE – Padstow

This morning after breakfast we head to Padstow. This charming working fishing port is surrounded by glorious sandy beaches, at the head of the Camel River. You can visit the Harbour, and explore the town, obtaining lunch if you wish in one of the many restaurants or cafés.

DAY SIX – Departure

After breakfast we leave our hotel and make our journey home with comfort stops en route.
