We depart from your home and travel to Devon, arriving late afternoon you will have time to relax before dinner this evening.
This morning we visit the beautiful Buckfast Abbey, one of England's most famous Benedictine monasteries. Explore the abbey church, peaceful gardens and gift shop before continuing to the historic market town of Tavistock, birthplace of Sir Francis Drake and situated at the heart of the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Enjoy a relaxing day at leisure in Torquay. Wander around the bustling harbour, discover charming boutiques and cafés, or take a leisurely stroll along the picturesque seafront. Why not enjoy lunch overlooking the marina, visit one of the town's many attractions, or simply make the most of the hotel's facilities. However you choose to spend the day, there's plenty to enjoy in this popular English Riviera resort.
This morning, we drive to Paignton where we join the Dartmouth Steam Railway and enjoy a train journey to Kingswear. Discover the beautifully restored vintage locomotives and enjoy glorious views - one of the finest steam train trips in the country along the coast of Torbay.
On arrival at Kingswear, we take a short ferry crossing over the River Dart to the historic town of Dartmouth. Here, you have free time to explore attractions such as the Britannia Royal Naval College, Bayards Cove, the Butterwalk, and Dartmouth CastleEnglands first castle designed with guns as its main armament.
Today we will visit Torre Abbey & Gardens. For art and history lovers, this site is a veritable treasure trove. The elegant gardens are perfect for a stroll, while the museum and art collection include everything from Tudor curiosities to original work by William Blake.
We return to Torquay in the afternoon, and first take a stop at Torquay Museum, with its permanent collection as well as seasonal exhibitions. You then have free time in Torquay, or enjoy time at the hotel, where you can relax.
This morning we head for the charming market town of Totnes. Wander through its unique independent shops, historic streets and riverside setting, where there is plenty to see and do. Once famous for its own currency the now-defunct Totnes Pound this beautiful town has a lively, bohemian atmosphere and a wealth of character.
After our morning visit, we travel to Brixham, a beautiful South Devon harbour fishing town with historic sites and scenic coastal views, a charming blend of working fishing boats, a vibrant harbour, and the Golden Hind replica ship. (admission not included).
After breakfast this morning we leave our hotel and make our journey home with comfort stops en route.
