We depart from your home and join the coach to journey to Bakewell en route to our hotel. Its market day today so we enjoy a little time here and perhaps enjoy lunch in one of the many eateries.
After a leisurely breakfast we head for Chatsworth; every year the majestic estate of the Duke & Duchess of Devonshire is transformed into a festive wonderland with its rooms lavishly decorated with garlands, twinkling lights and candles, complemented by the smell of Christmas trees and the sounds of carols which add to the atmosphere.
After a leisurely breakfast we take a scenic drive through the Peak District, visiting Matlock Bath, and the charming village called Eyam. This village has a story to tell and is best known for its association with Black Death in 1665, known as the Plague Village' the museum in the town tells the story of its residents, and its history.
Today we visit Pickfords House in Derby, a must-see attraction for anyone interested in the history of architecture and interior design. The Georgian townhouse, built in 1770 by architect Joseph Pickford, is a stunning example of the elegance and grandeur of the era.
You can take a tour of the property and see a wide variety of original features and furnishings. The house is set out as it would have been when the Pickford family lived there, complete with period furniture, paintings, and decorative objects.
One of the highlights of a visit to Pickfords House is the grand entrance hall, which is decorated with ornate plasterwork and a beautiful staircase. The drawing room is also a highlight, with its elegant furnishings and beautiful fireplace.
The bedrooms on the upper floors of the house are also worth a visit, where you can see the bedrooms and dressing rooms of the Pickford family, complete with original beds, dressing tables and wardrobes. *Please Note: there is no lift to the upper floors.
The house has an extensive collection of ceramics, silver, and glass, as well as a variety of other decorative arts.
In addition to the interior of the house, you can also explore the garden and courtyard, which have been restored to their original 18th-century design.
A fascinating glimpse into the past!
We enjoy a leisurely breakfast this morning and then depart our hotel and make our journey home.

DAY ONE

DAY FIVE
We enjoy a leisurely breakfast this morning and then depart our hotel and make our journey home.
