Today we start with a visit to the Imperial War Museum in Duxford. From the early days of flight, through to the dramatic days of the Second World War and the technological advances of the Cold War, IWM Duxford has played a central role in some of the most significant periods of 20th-century history. See Spitfires take to the skies from the airfield where they first flew, get up close to gigantic aircraft and walk in the footsteps of the men and women who served here.

Inside every hangar and exhibition, you’ll discover iconic aircraft, see historic objects from our collections and uncover hundreds of personal stories of the many lives impacted by conflict.

We’ll then make our way to Saffron Walden, with its timeless charm, welcoming atmosphere and heritage.  The town’s beautifully preserved medieval streets and buildings are stepped in history, while its museum and gardens offer a tranquil escape.

We then enjoy some free time in Safrron Walkden before making our way back to the hotel with time to relax before dinner this evening.

From the monastic buildings of the past, the vibrant food scene and the scenic majesty of the Riverside, Ely packs a great deal into a pocket city.
