Today we begin with a drive along the roads of the Grizedale Forest Park, passing Graythwaite Hall and Esthwaite Water to Ambleside. We take a break here and have time to look around. From here we head north past Dunmail Raise and Lake Thirlmere to Keswick, the thriving main town of the northern lakes, situated within walking distance of Derwentwater. Here we have our lunch break. This afternoon we head for beautiful Lake Ullswater and Glenridding for a short stop. Continuing our way through Patterdale we ascend the rugged Kirkstone Pass, with the lonely inn at the summit, and drop down to Lake Windermere.
Our day begins with a short ride to Haverthwaite station. Here we catch the train to Lakeside where we visit the Aquarium of the Lakes, Britains largest freshwater aquarium where you will find pike, sharks and otters and a variety of other aquatic life. Next, we join the steamer for a cruise to Bowness. Leaving the ship here we have time for lunch and the afternoon is free for you to enjoy the town. Later we rejoin the coach for the journey along the shore road to the hotel.
Today we follow the coast to Ulverston, birthplace of Stan Laurel here we have some free time to explore. From here we drive up the West Coast to Ravenglass where we enjoy a ride on Lal Ratty The Ravenglass and Eskdake Miniature Railway, before seeing Wastwater voted Britains favourite view. From here we return via the southern fells.
