Join us on a great day out to Anderton/Boat Lift, which has/earned its nickname of Cathedral of the Canals for a very good reason. Not only does it still do the/job it was designed to do/of lifting boats and barges 50ft from the/River Weaver Navigation/to the/Trent &/Mersey/Canal, but it does it with the most ingenious and endearing character of any structure on the canal system. Truly a great day out. Followed by a visit to Salford Quays. The Quays is Greater Manchester’s unique waterfront destination.

YOUR ITINERARY
We depart from your selected pick-up point and travel to the Anderton Boat Lift & Visitor Centre. We are booked on the 11:15hrs boat trip, the trip lasts about an hour.
Unfortunately, during winter, the Anderton Boat Lift faced some challenges with the lift. A comprehensive design review has been conducted, and the necessary work will take several months to finish, meaning the lift will be out of service for the summer season.
We will begin our boat trip from the bottom of the lift, looking up at the glorious scheduled ancient monument from a unique perspective. We will then continue along the River Weaver to Northwich, where will take in the two historic swing bridges (the first electrically operated bridges in Britain) and return to Anderton to chat about the future of this fascinating attraction - all guided by the knowledgeable and engaging boat crew.
We continue our day, travelling next to Salford Quays the unique waterfront destination., with shopping, culture (Imperial War Museum & The Lowry)
After a wonderful day we will leave Salford Quays at approx. 4.30pm and make our journey home
