DAY ONE – Arrival

We depart from your home and travel south firstly to Bridgnorth where you have time at leisure before we continue our journey to our hotel in Leicester arriving late afternoon.  Time to relax before dinner this evening.

 

DAY TWO – Melton Mowbray and Belvoir Castle

For our first outing we head to Melton Mowbray for market day. The town has a royal heritage that goes back to Richard the Lionheart and is home to Stilton, Red Leicester Cheese and of course the famous Melton Mowbray Pork Pie. Head inside Melton Carnegie Museum to see on original pie oven, grab a pie at Ye Olde Pork Pie Shoppe or visit the Anne of Cleves pub.

In the afternoon we head to Belvoir Castle, chosen to represent Windsor Castle in Netflix’s hit series “The Crown”. Set on a high hill with panoramic views you’ll have time to explore the castle and landscaped gardens of this beautiful Regency House

 

DAY THREE – Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre and Market Bosworth

After a leisurely breakfast, we make our way to the Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre. The story is told of the Battle of Bosworth in 1485 which marked the start of the Tudor dynasty.

Later we make our way to explore the medieval settlement of Market Bosworth where it is Market Day. Free time at leisure to browse the market and explore before we return to the hotel to relax before dinner.

 

DAY FOUR – Richard III Visitor Centre and Leicester

This morning we have chance to discover the story of the last English King to die in battle and the first to be DNA tested! The award-winning Richard III Visitor Centre uses 21st century technology and stunning design to take us from the medieval Wars of the Roses to the discovery of the remains of Richard III under a car park 500 years later.

Later we have a free afternoon to explore Leicester. Whether it’s a visit to the Guildhall, the cathedral, the Museum & Art Gallery, or a spot of retail therapy at the quirky independent shops of Leicester Lanes, you’re sure to find plenty to keep you busy.

 

DAY FIVE – Departure

After breakfast, we make our journey home.

If no single supplement applies this is limited to the tour single room allocation and therefore additional cost may apply.  Prices displayed are per person unless otherwise stated.
