Established in 1244 Wellington Market is home to over 50 shopping units, there is a new indoor Food Court complementing the variety of the Indoor Market Hall, External Market Piazza, and Market Yard where we will spend a couple of hours before traveling a short distance to Iron Bridge.
The Market cafes are always a popular place to stop off; the delicatessens are a must visit to providing hams, cheeses and local produce the stalls are home to the finest produce from bakers, butchers, fish, fresh eggs to fruit & veg.
The Market areas are very easy to wander around with a wide selection of traders in each area. These are complemented by a selection of formal menswear, bags, accessories, jewellery and cosmetics, lingerie, stationery, handmade crafts.
We continue our day, travelling next to Iron Bridge, stretching across the River Severn, the world's first iron bridge is one of the greatest symbols of the Industrial Revolution With its magnificent iron arch, intricate detailing and ingenious engineering. Take time to look out for Table of Tolls: until 1950, everyone crossing the Iron Bridge was required to pay a toll even kings and queens. Look out for the Table of Tolls sign near the bridge at the Tollhouse, demonstrating that everyone from animals to members of the Royal Family had to pay their way.
