Worcester | Gloucester | Forest of Dean | Beechenhurst | Taurus Crafts | Bath | Roman Baths | Stratford-upon-Avon
We depart from your home and travel to Worcester en route, where we have a lunch stop and time to explore before we continue our journey to our hotel, arriving to a welcome mulled wine and mince pies while your luggage is taken to your room. Time to relax before dinner this evening.
Today takes us to Gloucester, included is a visit to Gloucester Cathedral with guided tour, the magnificent Cathedral dates to 1089 and is one of the most beautiful in England, parts may seem familiar having been used as backdrops for popular productions Harry Potter and Mary Queen of Scots.
Following our visit there will be free time, perhaps explore Gloucester docks, the most inland port in the UK with 15 Victorian Warehouses, all now listed buildings, a great area for museums, food, drink and retail.
Well then return to our hotel where there is a traditional Christmas Dinner this evening followed by entertainment and a visit from Santa.
We have a leisurely start to our day today, before we take a scenic drive through the Forest of Dean following the Royal Forest Route with a stop at Beechenhurst Visitor Centre, and Taurus Crafts.
Well make a stop on our way back to our hotel in our host town of Coleford, giving you a chance to explore before making your own way back to the hotel.
Tonight, we have dinner this evening, and entertainment.
Travelling south today we explore Bath. Built for pleasure and relaxation, beautiful Bath has been a wellbeing destination since Roman times. Baths compact, visitor-friendly centre is overflowing with places to eat and drink, plus some of the finest independent shops in Britain. Bath's stunning, honey-coloured Georgian architecture is straight from a Jane Austen novel; highlights include the iconic Royal Crescent and the majestic Circus.
We have included a visit to the Roman Baths. Constructed in around 70AD as a grand bathing and socialising complex, the Roman Baths is one of the best-preserved Roman remains in the world, where 1,170,000 litres of steaming spring water, reaching 46°C, still fills the bathing site every single day.
The Roman Baths is the site of extensive ruins and an interactive museum filled with many treasures and visual snippets that transport you back to Roman times and the lives of the Aquae Sulis people. Walk on ancient pavements as the Romans did 2,000 years ago and explore chambers historically housing changing rooms and tepid plunge pools.
Well then return to our hotel for dinner and entertainment this evening.
After breakfast this morning we leave our hotel and make our journey home, stopping at Stratford-upon-Avon before we continue our journey home.
