The resilience and persistence of nature is celebrated in this new exhibition at Chatsworth house in the house and garden.
Chatsworth House is renowned for its art, landscape and hospitality, and has evolved through the centuries to reflect the tastes, passions and interests of succeeding generations of the Devonshire family.
Today, Chatsworth is cared for by a registered charity, Chatsworth House Trust, which preserves the house, garden and parkland for everyone to enjoy, and cares for the Devonshire Collections; works of art that span 4,000 years, from ancient Roman and Egyptian sculpture, and masterpieces by Rembrandt, Reynolds and Veronese, to work by outstanding modern artists, including Lucian Freud, Edmund de Waal and David Nash.
There are over 25 rooms to explore, including the magnificent Painted Hall, regal State Rooms, restored Sketch Galleries and atmospheric Sculpture Gallery.
Chatsworth House
We depart from your selected pick-up point and travel through the Peak District to Chatsworth House arriving at approx. 11.30am.
On arrival why not take time to have refreshments at the café in the grounds, before our afternoon visit to the house which is booked for 12:30pm
Flowers in all their forms take centre stage in The Gorgeous Nothings: Flowers at Chatsworth, exhibition, celebrating the resilience and persistence of nature.
The exhibition features both historical and contemporary works of art from the Devonshire Collections and is supported by key loans from national and international museums, and new artist commissions.
Inspired by the estate itself, The Gorgeous Nothings builds on the work of an important lineage of landscape designers, gardeners, scientists and botanists who, over the last six centuries have planted, gathered, foraged, researched, collected and preserved an array of botanical treasures at Chatsworth, from rare botanical volumes and illustrated manuscripts in the library to coveted specimens in the garden and grounds.
After a wonderful day we will leave Chatsworth at approx. 4.30pm and make our journey home.
