With its imposing medieval stone wall, Tenby has been a popular destination for many years; a place of a leisure destination for almost 200 years. A place of history, myth, and legend. We’ll whisk you away on a vintage rail journey and explore West Wales with our step-on guide, before seeing the gentle giants at Dyfed Shire Horse Farm.

DAY ONE – Arrival

Join us on a journey from your doorstep to the charming town of Tenby. Afternoon arrival gives you plenty of time to unwind before enjoying a delicious dinner this evening and entertainment.

 

DAY TWO – West Wales Hop On Guided Tour and Shire Horse Farm

Today we enjoy the company of our enthusiastic, entertaining, and enlightening guide with a tour of West Wales.

We’ll then visit Wales’ only Shire Horse Society Approved farm and meet the Dyfed family of Gentle Giants who have been born and bred at Carnhuan for over 40 years.

We step back in time to learn about and meet these wonderful animals that have played a central part in the story of mankind, going back to the Ice Age! First opened to the public in 1992 and now in its 30th season, the farm has been televised on ‘Escape to the Country’ and ‘The Farmers Country Showdown’ and has a strong association with the Royal Family, as the birthplace and final resting place of Dyfed Celt, aka Major Mercury, Drum Horse of the Queen’s Household Cavalry from 2008-2021. We enjoy a talk and listen to equine stories whilst being fascinated by the harnessing of the Shire, ready for a photo opportunity.   A relaxed step back in time in the shade of the mythical Preseli Hills awaits you.

Arriving back to our hotel in time for dinner and entertainment this evening.

 

DAY THREE – Tenby

Enjoy a day of pure relaxation in Tenby. Your hotel is located right across from the beach, offers breath-taking views and is just a short walk away from the town centre. Sit back, unwind, and let the mesmerizing waves and bustling world captivate you.

Dinner this evening, followed by entertainment.

 

DAY FOUR – Gwili Railway and Carmarthen Castle

This morning, we make our way to The Gwili Railway where we enjoy a vintage journey through beautiful Carmarthenshire with a great, Welsh Elevenses bonus. Experience sitting on a working steam train and get transported back in time. Our Welsh Elevenses on the train will remind you of those genteel days when the pace of life was more relaxed. Travel through the varied countryside surrounding our line on an eight-mile round trip, complete with tea at your seat.

We’ll then make our way to Carmarthen, where we enjoy Carmarthen Castle, dating back to the 12th century. The remains of this castle are fascinating. The sheer solidity brings history to life. Just think what this castle has seen and what stories the walls could tell!

After some free time in Carmarthen, we’ll then make our way back to our hotel for dinner and entertainment this evening.

 

DAY FIVE – Departure

After breakfast this morning we leave our hotel and make our journey home with comfort stops en route.
