DAY ONE – Salford Quays and Arrival

We depart from your home and travel to Kendal, first making a stop at Salford Quays, before continuing our journey arriving late afternoon when you will have time to relax before dinner this evening.

DAY TWO – Lancaster and Carnforth

This morning we have a visit to Lancaster, where grandiose heritage city greets you with cobbled lanes and secluded squares adorned by Georgian architecture and a medieval castle with over a thousand years of tales to tell. The ancient priory houses Viking artefacts, crusader coffins and part of a Jacobean pulpit. You can find out all about Lancaster through the ages at the City Museum or you can wander through the picturesque Williamson Park where you’ll find a butterfly house and a bird enclosure. After our visit to Lancaster, we’ll make a stop at Carnforth where the town’s railway station was the setting for iconic scenes in the 1945 movie, Brief Encounter. Returning to our hotel this afternoon, you’ll have time to explore or relax before dinner this evening.

DAY THREE – Keswick and Grasmere

Today we enjoy a visit to Keswick of beautiful Derwentwater. On the way, we call at Grasmere, which lies at the very heart of the beautiful Lake District. Look out for the tiny Sarah Nelson Gingerbread Shop, located in the grounds of the pretty parish church. Made with a top-secret recipe, this sweet treat is popular with visitors.

DAY FOUR – Haverthwaite Railway Steam Train, Windermere Boat Cruise, Bowness and Beatrix Potter Attraction

Our day begins with a short ride to Haverthwaite Station. Here we board the Steam Train to Lakeside. On arrival in Lakeside, we head to the pier and make our journey across the lake by boat to Bowness. You’ll have some time here now to explore, and we have included entrance into the Beatrix Potter Attraction. We will then gather to return to our hotel, with time to relax before dinner this evening

DAY FIVE – Departure and Barton Grange

After breakfast we leave our hotel and make our way home, calling at Barton Grange on our way home for refreshments and maybe a little shopping before continuing our journey.
