The sheer beauty of the Lake District has inspired poets and artists for centuries, and the area needs little introduction. This tour features a ride on the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway, a visit to Muncaster Castle, and visits to a variety of picturesque towns and villages of the Lake District.

DAY ONE – Arrival

We depart from your home and travel to Cumbria, arriving late afternoon with time to relax before dinner this evening.

 

DAY TWO – Kendal and Bowness-on-Windermere

This morning we visit Kendal with its castle ruins, quaint cobbled streets, antique shops, the K Village shopping outlet, and the chance to purchase the famous ‘Kendal Mint Cake’.

In the afternoon we visit Bowness-on-Windermere, a bustling tourist hotspot with independent shops, interesting museums & plenty of places to eat.

 

DAY THREE – Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway and Muncaster Castle

This morning after breakfast, we journey up the coastline to take a trip on L’al Ratty – the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway. Enjoy a spectacular 7-mile journey through the picturesque Lake District scenery with Scarfell Pike, England's largest mountain, as a stunning background.

After our journey, we visit Muncaster Castle, Gardens and Owl Sanctuary. We enjoy a 40-minute guided audio tour of the castle that is narrated by the Pennington Family who have lived in the castle for over 800 years. Within the grounds, there is a tranquil garden to explore and an Owl Centre where you can watch spectacular flying displays.

 

DAY FOUR – Grasmere, Ambleside and Ulverston

Today we head to Grasmere, the village known best for its famous Gingerbread! After enjoying free time here, we travel the short distance to Ambleside. You have a chance to explore this picturesque town with its wide variety of independent stores, museums, and cafes. Our final stop of the day is Ulverston, the birthplace of Stan Laurel.

 

DAY FIVE –Departure

After breakfast we leave our hotel and make our journey home with comfort stops en route.
