We depart from your home and travel to Scotland arriving late afternoon you will have time to relax before dinner this evening.
Today, prepare yourself for an unforgettable journey as you marvel at the breathtaking landscapes of mountains, lochs, and coastline on our nostalgic steam train ride along the iconic West Highland Line. The scenery along this route is unparalleled, offering picture-perfect vistas at every turn.
One of the highlights of today is crossing the spectacular Glenfinnan Viaduct, where you'll be treated to magnificent views of the Glenfinnan Monument and the serene waters of Loch Shiel. This historic viaduct, made famous by its appearances in the Harry Potter films, adds a touch of magic to your journey.
As we arrive in the charming fishing village of Mallaig, you'll have some free time to explore. Wander through the quaint streets, enjoy fresh seafood, or simply soak in the atmosphere of this picturesque harbour.
Well then reboard the Jacobite Steam Railway for our return journey to Fort William. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the rhythmic chug of the steam engine as you take in more of Scotland's stunningly beautiful countryside.

Today we first make a stop in Spean Bridge, for a visit to the iconic Commando Memorial, a poignant tribute honouring the valiant men of the original British Commando Forces. This remarkable monument not only serves as a powerful reminder of their bravery but also offers commanding views of the breathtaking surrounding landscapes.
Next, we make our way to the charming village of Fort Augustus, nestled at the southernmost tip of the legendary Loch Ness. Here, we embark on a serene and informative cruise, gliding across the tranquil waters while soaking in the mesmerising scenery and uncovering the myths and history of this famous loch.
As the day unfolds, we follow the enchanting 'Road to the Isles', tracing the scenic route of the West Highland Line. Our destination is the Glenfinnan Visitor Centre, and the Glenfinnan Monument, honouring the fallen Jacobite clansmen.
Today, we embark on a journey along the stunning Argyll Coastal Route to reach the vibrant town of Oban. Known affectionately as the 'Gateway to the Isles', you can soak up the atmosphere of the bustling harbour, where you'll find plenty to explore.
For those up for a challenge, a steep walk up to McCaig's Folly promises to reward you with breathtaking views of the coastline and the distant isles.
After breakfast this morning we leave our hotel and make our journey home with comfort stops en route.

Set on the shores of Loch Linnhe and Loch Eil, the Alexandra Hotel in based in Fort William. Due to the age and nature of this grand old building all bedrooms are individual in size and shape. All rooms are of a good standard with en-suite bathrooms, TVs, hairdryers and tea/coffee making facilities.
