Hull | Scarborough | Burton Constable Hall | The Deep | Scarborough Fair Collection | Beverley | Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre | Cleethorpes | Helmsley
We depart from your home and travel Hull. Before we arrive at our hotel, we will visit The Deep, where you will embark on a journey through the worlds oceans, past and into the future.
Well then make our way to our hotel; you will have time to relax before dinner this evening.
Today we have a 90-minute tour of Hull by coach and by foot before free time to explore the marina, historic old town, and the city centre.
Today we travel to Scarborough, where we visit the Scarborough Fair Collection, which hosts a magnificent working collection of Vintage Cars, Steam Engines, Vintage Fairground Rides and Mechanical Organs, topped off with two Wurlitzer Organs in a spacious ballroom. This fascinating place is a must see, that will take you back to your childhood.
Take a well-deserved coffee break in the café before we then continue to Scarborough where you have free time before our return journey to our hotel.
After breakfast we make our way to Grimsby, where we visit the Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre, we are welcomed with a 15 minute introduction talk before our admission to the museum.
When the early railways connected Great Grimsby to Londons famous fish markets in 1848, the town began an astonishing development into the Worlds Premier Fishing Port! Fresh fish was now available nationwide and a national dish of Fish and Chips became possible.
The Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre attraction will transport you back in time to the 1950s heyday of this famous port. Carefully crafted sets and original preserved trawler interiors capture the atmosphere and essence of a remarkable way of life in one of the most dangerous occupations in living memory.
We have also included a tour of the magnificent M.F.V. ROSS TIGER the earliest diesel engine side trawler preserved in the UK! The ship is preserved in a permanent mooring outside of the Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre. See first-hand what it was like to be aboard a trawler in what is often described as Britains most dangerous job.
The sights, sounds, smells and drama will leave you with a whole new respect for the men who, for centuries, have pitted their strength against the elements to bring home their catch.
After our visit we will then make our way the short distance to Cleethorpes, where you can walk along the promenade, and enjoy the traditional vibrant seaside atmosphere.
Well then make our way back to our hotel where we have time to relax before dinner this evening.
After breakfast this morning we leave our hotel and make our way to Helmsley. This picturesque market town is historically part of the North Riding of Yorkshire and is located at the point that the Ryedale leaves the moorland. Its market day today, so you may find something of interest to take home with you. Well then continue our journey home.
