Knutsford | Weaver Hall Museum & Workhouse | Blakemere Village | Dunham Massey | Llangollen Steam Railway
We depart from your home with our home pick-up and firstly visit Dunham Massey - a garden for all seasons, an ancient deer park and a house filled with treasures and stories.
A centrepiece to the walled estate, the house at Dunham Massey is home to one of the National Trust's largest collections of household treasures and objects that tells the fascinating story of the Booth and Gray families. Be sure to see explore the Library, Servant's Quarters and Kitchen and the Study of Roger Gray (10th Earl of Stamford) which includes mementoes of his friendship with Haile Selassie.
Well then travel to Knutsford and if time allows you can explore the town before arriving at our charming hotel. Settle into your room and relax or perhaps take a stroll around Knutsford before enjoying dinner this evening.
This morning after breakfast we make a visit to the pretty shopping village of Blakemere Village, where there is a unique collection of independent boutiques gathered around a quaint courtyard, a popular craft workshop and plenty of tempting food and drink outlets.
Well then drive into the past at the Weaver Hall Museum & Workhouse, where stories of Cheshire's social history come to life. We have an interesting welcome talk and introductory film as well as tea and coffee. Set within the old Northwich Union Workhouse building, the museum explores the impact local manufacturing has had on people living in Northwich and the surrounding areas.
We arrive back to the hotel later with time to relax before dinner this evening.
This morning after a leisurely breakfast we head to Llangollen, spend some time here before we board the towns heritage Steam Railway. Enjoy the autumn colours unfold on a spectacular journey through the Dee Valley. Later this afternoon we then rejoin the coach and make the short journey home.
Please note: The Llangollen Steam Railway may not always be steam-powered; it could be diesel or electric.
