(9) DAY ONE – Arrival

We depart from your home and travel to Colchester, arriving with time to settle in before enjoying dinner this evening.

 

(10) DAY TWO – Audley End House and Gardens

After breakfast we travel to magnificent Audley End House and Gardens. Enjoy time to explore the impressive house, stables, service wing and beautiful gardens, discovering the fascinating story of one of England’s great country houses before returning to our hotel.

 

(11) DAY THREE – Guided Walking Tour and Green Island Gardens

This morning we enjoy a half-day guided walking tour, uncovering some of the fascinating stories, folklore and history of the local area. Later, we visit Green Island Gardens, where there is time to wander through the peaceful gardens and enjoy the colourful planting at leisure.

 

(12) DAY FOUR – Sutton Hoo and Woodbridge

Today we travel into Suffolk for a visit to Sutton Hoo, one of Britain’s most important archaeological sites. Discover the story of the famous Anglo-Saxon ship burial, explore the exhibitions and enjoy time to take in this historic landscape.

 

Before returning to our hotel we travel to the attractive riverside town of Woodbridge, where you'll enjoy free time to explore. Why not visit The Longshed, home to the full-size reconstruction of the famous Sutton Hoo ship, browse the independent shops, or relax in one of the town's welcoming cafés overlooking the River Deben.

 

(13) DAY FIVE – Departure

After breakfast this morning we depart our hotel and begin our journey home, with comfort stops en route.
