Fans of the popular ITV series ‘Victoria’ and the 1981 drama ‘Brideshead Revisited’ will recognise the famous facade of Castle Howard. Christmas is the perfect time to visit Castle Howard: the theatrical splendour of the House is enhanced by lavish decorations, based around a festive theme.

DAY ONE – Arrival

We depart from your selected pick-up point and travel to Harrogate, arriving during the afternoon. Time to settle into your room, and also have the opportunity to enjoy Harrogate before dinner at the hotel this evening.

 

DAY TWO – Castle Howard at Christmas

This morning we travel north to magnificent stately home Castle Howard. Step into an enchanted world as we take a free-flowing walk through the beautifully decorated house and visit the gift emporium. 

 

DAY THREE – York

Today we travel the short distance to York, where you have the day at leisure to enjoy this wonderful city in all it’s glory. The Christmas market has a wonderful selection of festive stalls and treats for you to enjoy.

 

DAY FOUR –The World of James Herriot and Oswaldtwistle Mills

This morning, we travel to the pretty Yorkshire village of Thirsk to visit the World of James Herriot. Discover where one of the most popular authors of the 20th century lived, worked and wrote his much-loved stories, based on his experience as a surgeon working among the Yorkshire farming community.

 

We’ll then make our way to Oswaldtwistle Mills for a little retail therapy and refreshments before we return to our hotel.

 

DAY FIVE - Departure

After a leisurely breakfast and a little more time in Harrogate this morning, we leave our hotel and make our journey home with comfort stops en route.
