Northumberland is a magical place filled with ancient castles, hidden gardens, unspoilt beaches, rolling hills, rugged moorland, sweeping views, friendly little market towns and a cultural heritage all of its own. It’s one of the most appealing destinations to visit with its rugged unspoilt landscapes; it gives the impression that many parts of this quiet part of the country is yet to be discovered.

DAY ONE – Arrival

We depart from your home and travel to Alnwick, arriving late afternoon at our hotel where tea and coffee will be served on arrival, you will have time to relax before dinner this evening.

 

DAY TWO – Holy Island and Bamburgh

Our first excursion takes us to the north of Northumberland across the causeway to Holy Island where you have time to explore before we make our way back across the causeway to Bamburgh, here you might like to visit the Grace Darling Museum.

NOTE: The crossing of the causeway to Holy Island is governed by tide times. It may be necessary to amend this excursion.

 

DAY THREE – Seahouses and Alnwick

After a leisurely breakfast, we journey along the Northumberland coast making our first stop in the pretty harbour of Seahouses. After enjoying a break here, we make our way back to Alnwick where you have some free time to explore the traditional market town before heading back to the hotel for dinner.

 

DAY FOUR – Departure

After breakfast this morning we leave our hotel and make our journey home with comfort stops en route.

WHITE SWAN HOTEL, ALNWICK

Set in the heart of the historic market town of Alnwick, the White Swan is a charming, 300-year-old coaching inn that blends its unique heritage with superb accommodation. The hotel is probably best known for its Olympic Dining Suite which features the magnificent panelling, mirrors, and stained-glass windows from the Titanic’s sister ship. All bedrooms are ensuite and have television, telephone, hairdryer and tea & coffee making facilities. Walk in shower rooms are located on the top floor with 3 flights of stairs and there is no lift at the hotel.
