DAY ONE – Arrival

We depart from your home and travel to Harrogate arriving late afternoon you will have time to relax before dinner this evening.

 

DAY TWO – Harewood House and Skipton

After a leisurely breakfast, we head for Harewood House, one of the Treasure Houses of England, set in the heart of rural Yorkshire. The house holds an impressive art collection including renaissance masterpieces, exquisite Thomas Chippendale furniture, all combined with 100 acres Gardens and a renowned lakeside Bird Garden.

 

This afternoon we head to the market town of Skipton, known as the ‘Gateway to the Dales’. The High Street leads up to the church, behind which you see the impressive 900-year-old castle and Skipton Woods. Skipton Castle is one of the most complete and best-preserved castles in England.

 

DAY THREE – York

After a leisurely breakfast we leave Harrogate and head for historic York. We have the day to explore this fascinating city with lots of attractions to keep you busy, such as the National Railway Museum, Jorvik Centre, the City Walls, the little streets and alleyways in the centre, not forgetting the magnificent Minster, you may even fancy tea & cakes at famous Betty’s Tea Rooms. Late afternoon we return to the hotel.

 

DAY FOUR – Harrogate, Guided Tour of Ripton Cathedral

The morning is free for you to explore the town of Harrogate. Enjoy a lovely stroll through beautiful Valley Gardens, explore the delightful Victoria arcades for some retail therapy. Have a relaxing lunch in one of the many restaurants, cafes and bars. We have an early evening dinner before tonight’s outing to Ripon. First we have a behind the scenes guided tour of the beautiful and awesome Ripon Cathedral and this is followed in the market square by one of the oldest English traditions, kept alive for hundreds of years without a break. At 9.00 p.m. the Ripon Hornblower sets the night watch from each corner of the obelisk in the centre of the square to reassure citizens that all is well. Afterwards we have a leisurely ride to Harrogate.

 

DAY FIVE – Departure

After breakfast this morning we leave our hotel and make our journey home with comfort stops en route.

The hotel stands in the centre of the delightful town of Harrogate and is famed as being Agatha Christie’s hiding place during her disappearance in 1926.  Bedrooms are stylishly furnished and offer TV, telephone, hairdryer and tea/coffee facilities, the public areas include the Library Restaurant, the Wedgwood Room and lounge bar. The hotel also has a lift.

The Old Swan Hotel stands in the centre of the lovely town of Harrogate, in Yorkshire, and is famed as being Agatha Christie’s hiding place during her disappearance in 1926. Bedrooms are stylishly furnished and the public areas include the Library restaurant, the Wedgwood Room and the lounge bar. All bedrooms are en suite and have satellite television telephone, hairdryer and tea & coffee facilities. The hotel has a lift.
