Join us for our Somerset holiday where we enjoy delightful heritage steam ride on the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway. Learn what goes into producing Sheppy’s cider  and watch the fine craftsman at work at Dartington Crystal.

DAY ONE – Arrival

We depart from your home and travel to Somerset arriving late afternoon you will have time to relax before dinner this evening.

 

DAY TWO – Bideford and Dartington Crystal

This morning we travel to the town of Bideford. Where it is Market Day. Browse amongst the farmers market and enjoy free time exploring this town with its elegant Georgian Buildings.  Later we journey the short distance to Dartington Crystal. Where we will enjoy a behind the scenes factory tour. As skilled craftsmen will be demonstrating how they handcraft glass into luxury homeware items.

 

DAY THREE – Taunton and Sheppy’s Cider

We begin the day with a visit to the County town of Taunton where your free to explore at your own leisure and have the chance to grab lunch. Our visit this afternoon is to Sheppy Cider who have been producing cider here since 1917. We will enjoy a guided tour of the facility to learn what goes into producing this fine cider before enjoying a tasting.

 

DAY FOUR – Ilfracombe and Lynton & Barnstaple Railway

After a leisurely breakfast this morning we travel West to visit the Victorian seaside resort of Ilfracombe, known as the jewel in the North Devon Coast. Discover a quaint quayside and harbour, whitewashed villas, lovely beaches, coastal paths and an abundance of cafes and shops.

 

After lunch we journey the short distance to enjoy a Steam Ride on the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway. Board heritage carriages as you enjoy a traditional steam ride through the rolling countryside that offers picturesque views of the moorland and rugged coastline. 

 

DAY FIVE – Departure

After breakfast this morning we leave our hotel and make our journey home with comfort stops en route.
