Norfolk is one of England’s most picturesque counties and home to one of our most popular tours. During this holiday you will have the opportunity to ride on the ‘Poppy Line’ North Norfolk Railway, as well as the narrow-gauge Bure Valley Railway. We also hop on board the ‘Broad Tours’ boat to enjoy a picturesque cruise along Wroxham Broads. Not forgetting a visit to Sandringham House & gardens, this holiday really is for everyone.

DAY ONE – Departure

Depart from your home area in the morning travelling to Norwich and arriving at the Mercure Norwich hotel with time to relax before dinner.

 

DAY TWO – Norfolk Broads Cruise and Bure Valley Railway

Today we combine a nostalgic steam train ride with a cruise on the Norfolk Broads. We begin at Aylsham where we join the Bure Valley Railway for the 9 miles ride to Wroxham. At Wroxham we join the boat for a cruise around the Broads, and we then then travel through some of the delightful Broads villages, such as Woodbastwick, with its diminutive green and thatched cottages.

 

DAY THREE – Cromer, Sheringham and North Norfolk Railway

Today we travel to the resort of Cromer, on the north coast of Norfolk. We stop here before continuing to Sheringham, where we enjoy the sea air and a train ride - a steam train on the Poppy Line, from Sheringham to Holt, a Georgian market town with lots of little alleyways to explore.

 

DAY FOUR – Houghton Hall & Gardens

Today we visit Houghton Hall & Gardens. Built for Britain’s first Prime Minister, Sir Robert Walpole, in the 1720s, Houghton Hall is now home to the 7th Marquess of Cholmondeley – a descendant of Sir Robert Walpole – and his family. The Hall is set in extensive parkland, with its famous white fallow deer, an award-winning Walled Garden, Model Soldier Museum (the largest private collection of model soldiers in the world), Cafe and Gift Shop.

 

DAY FIVE – Departure

After breakfast we leave our hotel and begin our journey home.
